Report: Canucks Deal For Sami Pahlsson
The Blue Jackets have reportedly traded veteran center Sami Pahlsson to the Canucks in exchange for a pair of fourth-round draft picks.
Pahlsson will be reunited with good friends and fellow Swedes Henrik Sedin and Daniel Sedin in Vancouver, where he joins a team that is currently first in the Western Conference.
"I guess it's nice; it's been a tough run for us (in Columbus) and I just hope I have some good game left," Pahlsson told TSN. "I hope I do; don't see any reason why I couldn't do it again."
Report: Blackhawks Add Veteran Johnny Oduya
The Blackhawks have been pursuing a veteran to bolster their defense corps for the better part of February, and they made a deal for one just before the trade deadline Monday, according to TSN.
Chicago reportedly added Johnny Oduya from the Winnipeg Jets for a pair of draft picks.
Sources: Sharks Get Galiardi, Winnik From Avs
Sources indicate that the Sharks made a move to improve their depth up front on Monday, acquiring forwards Daniel Winnik and T.J. Galiardi from the Avalanche in exchange for Jamie McGinn and prospects Mike Connolly and Michael Sgarbossa.
Kings' Brown Scores 3 Amid Trade Rumors
Dustin Brown scored three goals and matched his career high with four points in an impressive response to rumors of his departure, and Jonathan Quick earned his NHL-leading seventh shutout in the Kings' 4-0 win over the Blackhawks Saturday night according to an Associated Press report.
Sharks GM Won't Rush Into A Trade
Sharks GM Doug Wilson indicated Wednesday that he's not going to let his team's current struggles influence his decision on whether to make deals between now and Monday's trade deadline.
"In the big picture, one or two games is not going to impact any decisions we make," Wilson said as the Sharks prepared for Thursday night's matchup with the Maple Leafs. "You can get tricked by playing really well as well as you can by playing a poor game."
Report: Sharks Have Interest In Rick Nash
TSN's Darren Dreger reported Tuesday night that the Sharks are a strong contender for Rick Nash's services. Sources have told Dreger that the Blue Jackets wanted Logan Couture in return, but that was quickly rejected by Sharks GM Doug Wilson.
Nash and Sharks captain Joe Thornton are apparently good friends and have performed well together in international competitions.
Nash, 27, has a no-trade clause and will ultimately determine where he ends up.
Dubinsky Ignoring Trade Rumors
Rangers forward Brandon Dubinsky has heard his name involved in trade rumors but knows there is nothing he can do leading up to Monday's trade deadline besides focus on his play.
Since news broke this week that Blue Jackets star Rick Nash was on the trading block, Dubinsky's name emerged as a potential piece of a package to land the coveted winger.
Initial reports speculated that for the Rangers to pull off a trade for Nash, they'd have to be willing to part with Dubinsky, top prospect Chris Kreider and a first-round draft pick, if not more.
Kubina Won't Play During Trade Talks
The Lightning plan to keep Pavel Kubina out of the lineup as the team attempts to trade the veteran defenseman, according to an ESPN.com report.
Lightning GM Steve Yzerman announced the decision Thursday.
Roenick: Hawks Can Afford To Trade Kane For Goaltender
The Blackhawks need a goaltender, and they can afford to trade Patrick Kane to get one, former Blackhawk and current NBC analyst Jeremy Roenick said Wednesday.
Sharks Could Be Trading For Scorer
Sharks GM Doug Wilson is tight-lipped all year, but even more so now with the Feb. 27 trade deadline less than three weeks away.
"Once we get in this month," Wilson said Monday, "I don't make any comment about anything."
Wilson will not address rumors. And beyond his standard response -- "We look every day for ways to improve this hockey team" -- he won't spell out his priorities, because that might cost him leverage. But here's some educated speculation:
San Jose should not be focused on adding a depth defenseman or a fourth-line grinder. Right now, the Sharks should be looking for a proven scorer for one of their top two forward lines.
